San Francisco Art Openings: Mimi Barr Space

MIMI BARR GALLERY SPACE: BOON SLOG MUSCLE
09.24.04

Comment: I asked curator Brian Nuda Rosch what Boon Slog Muscle means and he offered up several suggestions, however, if I correctly interpreted the subtle inflections in the intonation of Rosch's remarks, the ultimate meaning is up to me. When I figure it out, I'll let you know. Meanwhile, back at the show, it's another commendable serving of trend, with plenty of reasonably priced selections, particularly from Sacha Eckes (almost all under $300). I keep telling you artists-- move the merchandise. Get your name and your art out there; it's essential to your success (assuming you want success within your lifetime, that is).

For those of you who appreciate absolutely stupendously humongous cleavage, I highly recommend a visit to Mimi Barr's left front window for a Suzanne Husky fabric, cardboard, and foam diorama. While there, you might also check out the right front window for another soft-sculpture medley, both poignant reminders of why America is the greatest nation on earth.

Artist/Artists: Sacha Eckes, Liz Walsh, Jason Jagel, Suzanne Husky, Paul Urich.
