San Francisco Art Openings: Double Punch

DOUBLE PUNCH GALLERY: 4PLAY
OPENING 08.28.04

Comment: Another opportunity to see the work of Gestalt Collective artists, a collaborative group focusing on large-scale works including murals. Here, they've painted the entire upstairs of Double Punch. These artists do it right-- they paint wherever they can paint, hone their skills, work out the kinks, develop a portfolio, show they're qualified-- and so they get exposure, attention, commissions, and that's what you have to do to make it as artists. A handful of small pieces by the individual artists are also for sale. I'd like to see NoMe try his surreal dimensional amorphous forms on a larger scale, not making the forms larger, but combining many small forms onto a larger piece of canvas or wood or whatever he wants to paint them on. I'd like to see world peace too, by the way, but that doesn't mean I'm ever gonna see it.

Artist/Artists: NoMe, Ricardo Richey (Apex), Sirron Norris, Scatha G. Allison.
