Nieto Fine Art: Fernando Reyes - Incarnate.

Comment by AB: Colorful semi-representational riffs on the figure by Fernando Reyes reflect his observations on human gesture, expression, intimate interpersonal relations, and on the interconnectedness of posture, thoughts and emotions. In the rear gallery, enjoy lighthearted wire sculptures by Diane Komater. Stop on by.

Center for Sex and Culture: Awash in Bodies - work on paper by Colette Standish and Jos Truitt.

Review by RWM: Not quite sexy with blood and injury here. Nude and sometimes enticing nonetheless. One does realize with this that pain is sometimes a part of it. Owchie. Wowchie.

Comment by AB: Two distinct takes on the female form. Colette Standish calls our attention to the torso while Jos Truitt zeroes in on the legs, romancing them up with scales and fins.

Southern Exposure: Point of No Return. Juried by Hesse McGraw, Chief Curator, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha, Nebraska

Comment by AB: Open call for Northern California artists to trot out their oeuvres of choice in hopes of making the final cut for this year's annual fee-free exhibition themed on the point of no return. That's right-- no entry fee! When does that ever happen anymore? So 650 artists enter work; 45 make the cut. At the entrance to the main gallery, one artist took photographs of all the artists with their entries and displays them, slide show style, on a monitor. From the looks of the art chosen and the art not, juror Hesse McGraw did a superb job of winnowing the winners. Preview tomorrow's talent here.

1AM Gallery: Over The Edge - MadC aka Claudia Walde.

Review by RWM: Cool colorful graffiti memorialized as art on canvas. Beautiful color schemes in mesmerizing work. One can hear the music.

Comment by AB: According to the gallery, MadC aka Claudia Walde is "arguably the top aerosol artist in the world." Here's some evidence; judge for yourself.
