CK Contemporary: Maurizio Lanzillotta - Nostalgia.

Comment by AB: You'll have no problem losing yourself in Maurizio Lanzillotta's splendid reveries. They's so soft, peaceful and serene that any level of stress will evaporate into the mist.

Alter Space: This Is Where Home Is - Matthew Gottschalk.

Review by RWM: Fun show about angst, connections and responsibilities. Easy to find oneself anchored here. Great expressions about the trials of being attached, perhaps a hero who is attempting to give something back.

Comment by AB: In the front gallery peruse puppet-like sculptures by Matthew Gottschalk, from works in progress to completed characters, coincidentally resembling the artist himself, and stuck in rather uncomfortable situations. In the rear gallery, Gottschalk's videos reflect on the rabid construction craze that is irrevocably changing the face of San Francisco.

Fifty24SF Gallery: Sam Flores - A Light in the Darkness.

Comment by AB: Sam Flores takes us to a place where wonderment beauty emerge from blackness, and you get the feeling that with the passage of time daylight will ultimately prevail.

ATAK (Analog Tattoo Arts Kolectiv): Paul Dobleman and Aaron Hodges.

Review by RWM: Dark and ominous. Assertive yet welcoming show for the nightmare days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Fascinating fantastic art that also may include a warning about possible dark tidings.

Mollusk Surf Shop: Screenprinted Photography Show.

Artists: Jeff Divine, Thomas Campbell, Will Adler, Kanoa Zimmerman.

Comment by AB: Way out here on the avenues where land meets sea, you leave cosmopolitan San Francisco far behind. The trade-off? Surf, sand and a sense of community you won't find anywhere else.
