Eleanor Harwood Gallery: Jill Sylvia - Tulipomania.

Comment by AB: Jill Sylvia continues her cut and reconfigured ledger book adventures, this time harking back to Holland's 17th century tulip bulb craze where speculators were paying absurd prices to own futures on these flowers-- aka bulbs-to-be. She bases her amazingly obsessively intricate collaged compositions on that. For you floral historians in the crowd, the tulip market crashed, speculators lost big, and the industry gradually limped back to normal-- kinda like the American real estate market over the past five years. Will we ever learn? (Answer = no)

Queen's Nails: I like Where This is Going!

Artists: Christine Ancalmo, Kate Bonner, Cybele Lyle.

Comment by AB: Diversions include clean abstracted monotone compositions on plywood with cannily placed cutouts by Kate Bonner, a trippy gold foil cavern with embedded video by Christine Ancalmo, and a video of stark overlaid landscape scenes by Cybele Lyle. From inventive to weird, it's all worthy here. Check it out.

Concourse Exhibition Center: 2nd Annual Masquerotica.

Artists: Chi Lum, Liliane Hunt, Ryan Smith (Retrotie), Yancy Mendoza, Krisztina Lazar, Peter Keresztury, Todd C. Hartman, Charles Gatewood, Peter Turner, Nancy Peach, Carla Biondi, Michael Rosen, Lee Harvey Roswell, Mykael David Lazzeri.

Comment by AB: If you've got any atypical erotical proclivities, propensities, predilections, predispositions or penchants whatsoever, then this is the place to be. I'm here for the Gallerierotica curated by Nancy Peach and Carl Turner (no... really... that's why I'm here). But now that I am, I might as well have a gander at the multiple stages, performances, diversions, outrageous costumery galore, floggings, rope-ups, fetishist concession stands, and much more. My pick of the evening? A hilarious drag rendition of Pour Some Sugar on Me by 80s hair band, Def Leppard.
