The Popular Workshop: Chris Lux & Dane Johnson - Eating Out Of The Drain.
Review by Anneliese Vobis: Chris Lux and Dane Johnson's work deals with socio- historical context, examining the nature of today's culture. Painting, sculpture, printmaking, installation and more transform the space into a mirror of the hidden depths of our reality. Form and content reinforce one another and present effective allegorical structures of life.

Pier 5 Law Offices: 13th Annual Prison Art Show.
Artists: Many.
Review by Anneliese Vobis: The artists work is installed in free and open style at Pier 5 Law Offices. The majority of the paintings, drawings and prints depict figurative imagery. When entering the space, one is enveloped by an endless number of very strong and intense images. The motifs often come from historical sources and convey representational styles. A second walk-through of the work is highly encouraged.
Comment by AB: To deepen the meaning of this thought-provoking show, a number of the artworks are accompanied by insightful handwritten texts from the inmates who created them. Always worth a look

111 Minna Gallery: Corporeal Clusters - Kelly Allen, Xiau-Fong Wee, Melissa Arendt.
Review by Anneliese Vobis: The symbol-rich pictures invite us to faraway mystical landscapes. Biomorphic hybrid animals contrast with geometric kaleidoscope structures and photorealistic multilayered collages. A rich fairytale story-telling energy connects the work. A very appealing show in an atypical exhibition space.
