Don Soker Gallery: High Noon Sword - Jesse Gottesman; Jorg Schmeisser - Bilder der Reise; Works on Paper by Fanny Retsek and Theodora Varnay Jones.

Comment by AB: Oversized one-of-a-kind aquatint etchings by Jesse Gottesman are inspired by storms along Maryland's eastern shore. A survey of Jorg Schmeisser's etchings from 1967-2003 demonstrates his prodigious mastery of the craft-- intricate, architectural and precise in every element. Fanny Retsek makes marks and lots of 'em. She also counts them out. Her multi-sheet etching titled "Over a Million" is an excellent example of that.

Ever Gold Gallery: Guy Overfelt - #BLACKLIGHT, A Hesher Tribute to Dan Flavin.

Review by RWM: Incredible experience here being between the purple lights and mirrors. Viewers can watch themselves recede into the distant reflections. You can also lose control of your eyes in the shimmering purples. Cool experience in an otherworldly place.

Comment by AB: Also on exhibit is some spiffy reflective black wallpaper imprinted with images of Punk era music posters, perfect for the kiddie's room.

San Francisco Art Exchange: Photographs by Jim Marshall Celebrating Fifty Years of Music from The Rolling Stones.

Comment by AB: Jim Marshall was one of the premier Rock & Roll photographers of the Sixties era and this show is a testament to his virtuosity. Stunning photographs of a youthful Mick Jagger stand out in Marshall's compelling documentation of the early Rolling Stones. A survey of Marshall's photographs of other rock and jazz greats is on exhibit in the adjacent gallery.

The Shooting Gallery: Carry On - New Works by Ferris Plock.

Comment by AB: Have you ever noticed that art shows are almost always presented as "New Works" as opposed to "Old Works" or "Last Month's Works" or "Last Year's Works"? Like all we care about is today's news and nothing else matters? Well, as the inexorable inevitable incursion of time unrelentingly inconveniences us, it's actually the earlier and the less recent works that typically accrue the most value as the years pass by, assuming the artist makes something of him or herself during the course of their career... Ferris. So far so good here. The boombox sculptures are an instant hit with collectors and all sold out. Samurai street savvy rules!

White Walls Gallery: Garden Party - New Works by Casey Gray.

Comment by AB: Those of you who know your history of American still-life painting might see a little Levi Wells Prentice here or a little Severin Roesen there. However you look at it, it's a kaleidoscopic spectacle for the eyes. Are you victimized by an anemic interior that could use pepping up? Do people yawn when you have them over to your pad? Overcome those inadequacies here.
