Rena Bransten Gallery: Sidney Russell - New Work

Comment by Janey Fritsche: The main gallery is filled with giant clothes emulating famous brands. Enjoyed feeling like a 3-year old wandering among huge adults.

Comment by AB: The artist tells me the clothing items on display are ginormous reproductions of actual articles of apparel worn by people in her past that remind her of either significant events or the individuals themselves. Worth a visit.

Ever Gold [Projects]: The Cut - Adam Parker Smith & Eric Shaw

Comment by AB: Two Brooklyn artists grace San Francisco with their creative endeavors-- bright vibrant acrylic paintings by Eric Shaw, and faux marble inlays by Adam Parker Smith incorporating everything from tennis rackets to toast. Good art on both counts. Recommended.

Eleanor Harwood Gallery: Dana Hemenway - All That Glows Sees

Comment by Tara de la Garza: I envy this artist's singularity of purpose. The macrame extension cords attached to correspondingly colored compact fluorescent bulbs have endless possibilities. I covet thee!

Nancy Toomey Fine Art: Michael Russell - Pattern Recognition

Comment by Tara de la Garza: It is somewhat ironic that I didn't recognize what the pattern was in this exhibition! I did love these two works though with the texture from old photo albums and the whimsical juxtapositions.

Comment by AB: The show statement maintains that the unifying thread here is time, but then goes off in all kinds of other directions, kind of like the art. Best of show? A large finely carved and polished kinetic wooden propeller driven by a clock mechanism, clearly time-related. Check it out.

Jack Fischer Gallery at MSP: Lou Beach - End of Days

Comment by AB: Lou Beach whips up a berserk world in collage where pretty much anything goes. Nicely done.

Themes & Projects: Randy Hayes - If Memory Serves

Comment by Janey Fritsche: I find myself lingering over these works trying to figure them out both subject-wise and how they're made. Soft, lovely and complex.

Comment by AB: Photography, oil paint & push-pin amalgams. Well-done. Go see.
