    Electric Works: Housewarming.

Comment by AB: Electric Works unveils their new space at 1360 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, between 9th and 10th Streets. The circuitous layout includes a gallery, printing facility, artist studios and a reception area.

Review by RWM: In the artist studio section, Sandra Yagi explores the fantastical natural world out there with images of creatures of the imagination, like a naturalist's journey into the fabricated and surreal. What if there were creatures so strange that nobody would mention them because we wouldn't believe? Here one will find oddities and dream beasts and nightmare monsters. One can go along on this trip into a bestiary of the unknown. Odd creatures yes, but there have been stranger things found in real life than those that inhabit our imagination. The point is to be amazed by their wondrous forms and to care about not sharing the planet alone. One can bask here in discovery.

    Arc Studios & Gallery: FourSquared.

Artists: Sharon Beals, Francesca DuBrock, John Fitzsimmons, Charles Garrett, Erika Meriaux, Beth Mullins, Hadley Northrop, Lucky Rapp, Eric Rewitzer, RubySpam, Diana Ruiz, Maja Ruznic, Ron Saunders, Alberto Toscano, Kay Weber, Brooke Westfall.

Comment by AB: Sixteen artists each create sixteen small-format artworks, display them in four-by-four grids, and there you have it-- multiple mini exhibitions all in the same space. It works. One of Arc's better annual shows.

Back to the Picture: 42nd Anniversary Benefit Exhibition and Reception for El Tecolote.

Comment by AB: Art show, silent auction and raffle to support San Francisco's Mission District bilingual newspaper, El Tecolote. It's been in print since 1970, as the retrospective exhibition of news photographs from El Tecolote's archives attest. Are you a fan of San Francisco neighborhood history? If yes, then stop on by. Plenty to see here.

Public Glass: Hot Glass - Cold Beer.

Artists: Guido Gerlitz, Elin Christopherson, Corey Jones, Duncan House, Jeff Rogers, Aaron Vigil.

Comment by AB: The way this works is that you buy a hand-blown glass, fill it with your choice of beer or wine, and then off you go to the entertainment-- live music, glassblowing and glass art. If you like action and drama with your art, hardly anything beats watching a glassblowing demonstration.
