Don Soker Gallery: Victoria May Exhibition - Designed for General Use.

Review by RWM: Interesting exploration of the utility of art by Victoria May. Assembled here are symbols and metaphors. The tools and everyday items that comprise these artworks seem simple in how they're presented, certainly when compared with the emotions that can be evoked by art-- and perhaps here allude to some sublime point. You can't help but ask yourself whether art is not also a tool. The work on display seems to suggest so, to a certain extent, with its blunt straightforward appearance, but at the same time, intimates that appearances may be deceiving-- that what at first seems matter-of-fact may upon closer inspection turn out to be great. Maybe that is one of the points being made here.

Comment by AB: Good art; go see.

Robert Berman/E6 Gallery: MISSPELLED Closing Party - Victor Reyes.

Review by RWM: What is there in a name? What is there in a letter if it can stand for a name or word? Fascinating workmanship on display that viewers can ponder to find their own personal meanings. Here discover the deconstruction of language to its basic elements, revealing and reveling in functionality and interpretation.

Kalart Gallery: Art Rhythm - Group Show.

Review by RWM: Vibrant use of colors, though the messages and subjects are not always so upbeat. The colors add life to the depiction of what seems exotic on our shores. One can look closely and not worry about subterfuge, instead cross-cultural references. One may wish to join here in the dance. Sorry, no images.
