Ratio 3 Gallery: Matt Paweski
Comment by AB: Wood, metal and painted sculptures by Los Angeles artist Matt Paweski, industrial in appearance and impeccably precise, are fully capable of deceiving you into believing you're looking at functional objects. But they're all handmade and they're all pure art. Good show; go see.

Recology Artist in Residence Exhibitions: Weston Teruya - The Space Left Behind; Kate Rhoades - Karen; Cristina Velzquez - Enajenaciones
Comment by AB: In the front gallery, Weston Teruya themes his found paper collages and assemblages around the ongoing upheaval in the anatomy and population of San Francisco. In the back gallery, Kate Rhoades shows a most entertaining animated puppet video with all characters and scenery sourced entirely from our throwaways. I can see a possibilities as a script writer and director here. Good job! In the gallery down the road, Cristina Velzquez sews up colorful fabric sculptures with creature-esque peculiarities.

Ampersand International Arts: An Elephant's Footsteps Lead to Firm Ground - Alvaro Verduzco
Comment by AB: This is Mexico artist Alvaro Verduzco's first solo show in America. The work is mainly geometric works on paper in black & white with occasional hints of color.
