Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi: Taraneh Hemami - Most Wanted.

Comment: Iranian-born Tareneh Hemami blurs headshots beyond recognition in order to explore the faceless nature of those labeled by the US government as "most wanted" terrorists. In so doing, she calls our attention to the fact that governmental procedures on this issue tend to incite prejudice, stereotyping, and hatred of millions of innocent people around the world. The bad news? Blur the law up enough around terrorism and the Department of Homeland Security can morph pretty much anyone they want into a "terrorist"-- including you.

Bucheon Gallery: Margaret Wall-Romana - The Spaces.

Comment: Margaret Wall-Romana intertwines abstraction and lifelike representations of nature with impressive effortless spontaneity. Plant, animal, and climatological forms inhabit wondrous abstract realms in complete peace and harmony.

San Francisco Art Institute: MFA Graduate Exhibition 2007.

Comment: Right off the top-- a most impressive artistic array spotlights the considerable skills of tomorrow's talent today. No shortage of gallery fodder here. Congratulations to you all! You know how I gauge how much I like what I see? Photo tally. And tonight I take and post more pics than at any unique occurrence in the history of my apparently terminal syndrome. A synopsis of said images shall forthwith commence to comprise the remainder of this segment (though I'd love to show you everything). As always, anyone who wants to help ID artists, please email me. In closing, my dear junior artsters, always remember-- it's a long long game. Play to win. Here's a hint: One hundred no's for every yes.

Comment: Owner Romeo G. Osorio tells me that Pinata Art Studio Gallery makes custom pinatas, an assortment of which are on display here. At the back of the showroom is an amiable oblong gallery space, tonight playing host to watercolors by Arnoldo.
