John Pence Gallery: Dean Larson.
Comment by AB: Cityscapes, bar scenes, still lifes, music groups, Yosemite, a fabulous ballet studio composition with reflective mirrored floors, and more. Unquestionably accomplished in all categories. What can we ultimately glean from surveying this degree of virtuosity? Check out the show and see for yourself.

Jessica Silverman Gallery: Kori Newkirk.
Comment by AB: A perfect tin can arc (a number of their interiors lined with glitter or different shades of paint), and a rectangular floor arrangement of clear water-absorbing spheres (absorption including the artist's bodily fluids as well), are among the objects of contemplation presented here. The show statement's a bit cryptic in terms of specifics, but seems to hint that the works are autobiographical and introspective in nature. Worth a visit.

FFDG: Skull & Sword.
Artists: Grime, Henry Lewis, Yutaro, and Lango. Review by RWM: Not quite all medieval. Beautiful depictions, interesting contrasts and storyscapes. Nice to see the vitality and attempts here to create lasting images. Fun and symbolic.
Comment by AB: Four of our more prominent tattoo artists-- all from the famed Skull & Sword tattoo shop-- take a little time off from limbs and torsos to make art for your walls.

Recology - Art at the Dump: Benjamin Cowden - Lunar Cassowaries; Ian Treasure - Road to Nowhere; Hannah Quinn - Beyond the Bower.
Comment by AB: Benjamin Cowden's wondrous kinetic sculptures include an electrified empty desk classroom, each desk equipped with a snapping wooden ruler; and a three-tiered toilet-tank wall fountain, a discretionary indiscretion that no hepcat penthouse pad should be without. Ian Treasure analogizes the repetitive travails of existence with a toy taxicab driving non-stop on an endless treadmill. Hannah Quinn shows off her considerable and creative woodworking and furniture-making skills. Good show on all counts. Recology = like. Go see.

Romer Young Gallery: Christoph Roßner - Kuriositätenkabinett.
Comment by AB: Dresden, Germany artist Christoph Roßner's raw enigmatic representations, apparently excerpts from larger narratives, gift viewers with ample opportunities for interpretation. Nicely done.
