Museum of the African Diaspora: From Process to Print - Graphic Works by Romare Bearden.

Comment by AB: Impressive and extensive thirty-year retrospective of prints by important American artist, Romare Bearden. The show includes over 85 lithographs, etchings, collagraphs, collagraph plates, screen prints, drypoints, monoprints, and engravings. Definitely worth a visit-- especially if you're a printmaker or print collector.

Fouladi Projects: Pip Culbert; Bill Culbert.

Comment by AB: The main event tonight is art made out of seams-- yes, clothing seams. Pip Culbert takes old clothes, dices em up, and tosses everything but the seams. So here we have the minimalist fashion upshot of that. Her husband Bill, specialist in impaling everyday objects with florescent tubes, is showing a couple of skewered suitcases out on the roof. Fouladi Projects occupies the former digs of Lincart (on Mission Street just off of Van Ness).

Incline Gallery: Spectacular Beasts - Travis Kerkela, Scott Greenwalt, and Sandra Yagi.

Review by RWM: Wild animal art, but more of an exploration here than an expression of personhood, almost like a scientific inquiry or examination. What does it mean to be animal? What are an animal's parts and insides like? What has happened to the wild creatures of yore? There are also the fascinating monsters with connections to the present, and comments about the best explanation to date of life-- evolution. The anatomy here is okay, but it is the ideas that will pervade your consciousness.
