Shooting Gallery / White Walls: Skewville; Hard Time Mini Mall (Curated by New Orleans' Red Truck Gallery); Small in a Big Way - Mark Warren Jacques; Tangle - Mary Iverson.

Artists at Hard Time Mini Mall: Frank Relle, Jason Holley, Andres Basurto, Laura Ortiz Vega, Chris Roberts-Antieau, Bryan Cunningham, Jason D'Aquino, Ian Berry, Joe Decamillis, Adam Wallacavage, Tom Haney.

Review by RWM: Quite the spot for a leisurely visit. The large spaces and high walls are a great way to see the monumentalism of art. With all the rooms full, it is like a visit to a museum rather than a gallery, but at the same time the art is all contemporary. Joining us for the evening are a number of artists brought together by Red Truck Gallery, New Orleans, LA who put some excellent and intriguing art on the walls. One can get lost and spend a lot of time searching everything on exhibit here. This nice new venue just across the street and catty-corner from the gallery's old location. All sorts of artworks here to absorb and process.

Comment by AB: At first glance, I'm wowed with the profusion of quality work, but by the time I make it to the rear project spaces, I'm overwhelmed and OD'd (and I'm used to looking at lots of art). So much good stuff needs more time, more focus and more space for appreciation. If the gallery wants to make a statement about having access to the upper echelons of pretty much everything, then mission accomplished. But with such a glut, certain artists and works of art are bound to get lost in the tumult... and they really don't deserve that. Galleries and artists work best in tandem, not one at the expense of the other. Nevertheless, this is an eminently impressive show. Go see.

Campfire Gallery: In Heaven - Dimitri Drjuchin.

Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: Dimitri Drjuchin guides us with his work into an imaginary world. Comic creatures, monsters, and a happy color palette are strong symbols for elements of life. The active figures and flat shapes create rhythmical otherworldly scenarios.

Review by RWM: Great bubblegum and candy for mind with pastels and bright pinks. Fun color choices for fantastic figures and artistic actors. Strange shapes for strange identities and emotions.

[ 2nd Floor Projects ]: Christopher Russell, Camille Roy.

Comment by AB: Christopher Russell tells me that a few years back, he made a number of sojourns to a certain public park where men engage in varying degrees of assignation and conviviality, and documented the activities with a camera concealed behind a hole in his pants. The results range from murky and mysterious to woodsy and romantic. Also on display are several abstract works with representational flourishes. Check it out.

Review by RWM: Hard to believe that there is a connection between all these wild visions and styles. Great place to view a potpourri of work by local artisans. Easy to find something you like here, but somebody may have been there before you. Cool space for a quaint new venue.
