Aftermodern Gallery: The Delicate Triangle - A Photographic Exposition.

Artists: Anoush Abrar, Lucy Levene, Ted Partin.

Comment: Three medium to mildly disquieting geographically disparate perspectives on portrait and figure photography-- Anoush Abrar from Switzerland, Ted Partin from New York, Lucy Levene from London. Worth a look.

Gallery 16: Amy Franceschini + Phil Ross - Spanners.

Comment: Not an inconsiderable neocortical buy-in here. Amy Franceschini waxes environmentally relevant with an updated twist on World War II Victory Gardens featuring her Rube Goldberg-esque "Rainharvester." Phil Ross's work includes old useless camera carcasses reincarnated by being spun smooth in a rock polisher, and wall-mounted slabs of wood accented with teeny digital clock hands and pendulums. And there's some gardening gloves in frames, and I gotta go. Time's a flying.

Soap Gallery: Chris Corales & Anne McGuire - To Here Knows When.

Comment: Anne McGuire makes art, mails it to her friends, her friends mail it back, and that's half her show (she tells me her friends get to keep the mail art). The other half-- the one that's for sale-- consists of small works on paper, the most appealing of which incorporate and are composed around cancelled postage stamps. I always like Chris Corales's recycled paper and cardboard collages, and anticipate their increasingly expansive, elaborate, and complex evolution.

Luggage Store Gallery Annex: Per Schumann and Malte Zacharias (of Entwurf-Direkt) - Metagymnastics, The Secret Relationship Between Plants and Humans.

Comment: Per Schurmann and Malte Zacharias, both from Hamburg, Germany, present a combination art show, installation, video-logue, eating establishment, and performance that transits a range of topics among which are the manifold benefits of plants, the appreciation of nature, recycling, environmental awareness, healthy eating, being mindful of our daily routines, and more. Nicely done.

Eleanor Harwood Gallery: Paul Ulrich - The Continuing Existence of Things I Do Not Understand.

Comment: Tight meticulous detailed diminutive and technically delectable abstract and semi-representational paintings and works on paper personify significant figures in Paul Ulrich's life. Not only can the dude draft, but he also explains himself in captivating comprehensible completeness.
