Serge Sorokko Gallery: Miguel Condé - Dialogues.

Comment by AB: Miguel Condé materializes a curious world populated with fascinating personalities and open-ended scenarios. The best part? We're all invited to step right in and engage in the interactions.

Gallery Paule Anglim: The Big Feel - Ruby Neri; Twelve Drawings - Carter.

Comment by AB: Bold ceramics and figure paintings in the Bay Area Figurative tradition, spiced with funk and primitivity, at times wild, whimsical and freewheeling. In the rear gallery, Portraits by Carter seem inspired by the cosmos, and look strikingly like contemporary renditions of classic constellations.

The Contemporary Jewish Museum: Bound to be Held, A Book Show - Josh Greene.

Comment by AB: This two part show homages that endangered species, the book. Say what you will, but holding those bound paper pages in your hands can be as much a social experience as a personal one. Hark back to the good old days, peruse a few volumes with friends and maybe strike up a conversation with someone you don't even know. Also on display are inscribed association copies of books accompanied by notes from their current owners. For those of you keeping score at home, an "association copy" of a book is collectible not only for the book itself but also because of the person who owned it. A show worth experiencing and contemplating.

CK Contemporary: Linda Touby - New Works.

Review by RWM: Fun to be in the presence of work that will remind you of Richard Diebenkorn. These paintings are much more accessible though. Interesting statement about inspiration and artist as impersonator. Nice to see the chalky and pastel works in a confined space. An encounter here with beauty and legacy.

Comment by AB: And the winner of the Richard Diebenkorn look-alike contest is... Linda Touby. She's from New York where perhaps her "inspiration" isn't so instantly recognizable.

    SFAQ[Project]Space: Joshua Short and Friends.

Review by RWM: Odd and strange encounter with things you might not have seen before. Unexpected surprises from the unordinary.

Comment by AB: Yet another wacky jaunt through Josh Short's weird world of sound, contraptions and kinetics. A suspended electrified cooler with itinerant beer cans and a set of undulating speakers will definitely entertain.
