The Peanut Gallery: The Grande Bacchannalia - Taurus Evans.
Review by RWM: Large in scale, the paintings of Taurus Evans present not the usual icons in this exploration of mythology. The works are grand and astounding. These are new figures cast in a classic way, some surprisingly recognizable, and others part of the corruption, but all are important in their own ways.

The Shooting Gallery: Marks - New Works by Aaron Nagel.
Comment by AB: Erotica never looked so good, plus special added bonus-- it's actually tasteful. I'm rating this one a fully engorged erection.

White Walls Gallery: Temporal Surfaces - New Works by Kevin Cyr and Jessica Hess. Guest Curated by Lainya Magaņa.
Comment by AB: Two artists explore "decay and abandonment in urban environments"; Kevin Cyr finds it on the sides of vans and Jessica Hess, on buildings and trains. The pessimism of American art contrasted with the optimism of Chinese art, for example, becomes progressively more striking. I suppose the ability to discern beauty in demise is about as positive as you can spin the American Dream (or maybe nightmare?) at this point, but the message is clear-- maintaining the status quo has limited upside. The depictions, however, are true. And as we all know, truth has no downside.

Comment by AB: Andres Guerrero's Guerrero Gallery is officially open for business, debuting the space with one auspiciously bodacious group show. Guerrero, formerly a partner at White Walls Gallery, now captains his own ship.
