Hackett Mill Gallery: Interiors and Places - David Park, Richard Diebenkorn and Elmer Bischoff.

Comment by AB: Fine vintage examples of Bay Area Figurative painting mainly dating from the 1950s by three of its most famous proponents. Outside of a museum, you won't likely see another show of this caliber anytime soon. Definitely worth seeing.

Vorres Gallery: Fictional Histories - Zachary Roberts.

Review by RWM: Great remembrances of World War II. Interesting fascination with a time when technology changed the world for probably the far worse. One can remember a time here when the very fabric of matter was examined and discovered to be more dangerous than we could ever imagine. Much of the research happened out here in The West. Science, history and art collide for work about the explosive times at the beginning of The Atomic Age. The truth here more strange than fiction.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Room for Big Ideas: Transflux.

Artists: Gene A. Felice II, Kate Spacek, Nathaniel Ober, Eve Warnock.

Comment by AB: Four artists engage technology to transform the front room gallery into a "living breathing organism." Diversions include a computer programmed "harp", lapping waves projected from a ceiling installation, interactive installations, and a conceptual ecosystem.

Italian Cultural Institute: We Are All Made of Stardust - Penelope Chiara Cocchi.

Comment by AB: Penelope Chiara Cocchi aka Penelope glues what look like printouts of vintage and contemporary views of San Francisco and Rome onto surfaces like vinyl record albums, a weather-worn piece of scrap wood, a log, a mirror and palm fronds, and then haphazardly slops on some paint. Eminently forgettable. Next.
